Why Kyle started building around sober nightlife.
Founder Kyle Kuehn saw the same gap from inside restaurant and nightlife work: people wanted music, food, games, late hours, and real community, but the default model kept putting alcohol at the center.
The early concept, Lights Out, was imagined as a high-energy sober bar for people in recovery, people under 21, second-shift workers, pregnant people, teetotalers, and anyone who wanted a clear night out.
Point of view
The product is the room.
Soberbars is not only about replacing cocktails. The larger opportunity is building better third places: places where people can show up late, meet others, play, dance, eat, listen, laugh, and remember the night.
That is why the site is becoming a directory, a builder resource, a product guide, and a story platform. The goal is to help people find what exists and help more communities build what is missing.
